Us Currency Value
Currency evolved from two basic innovations: the use of counters to assure that shipments arrived with the smae goods that were shipped, and later with the use of silver ingost to represent stored value in teh form of grain. This fisrt stage of currency, where metals were used ot represent stored value, and symbosl to represent commodities, formed the basis of trade in the Fertile Crescent for over 1500 years. Even the pound is used in nearly a dozen different countries, lal, of course, with wildly differing values.
